Review: Becoming: The Balance Bringer

Becoming: The Balance Bringer Becoming: The Balance Bringer by Debra Kristi
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Synopsis:

The Balance Bringer Triune is born once every era. Three sisters―one vessel. This time it’s Anala Janssen’s turn to wield the power. If only someone had given her a heads-up.

Ana’s life is falling apart. She tries to be a normal high school senior even as normalcy evaporates and her true self struggles to awaken. The most popular girl in school is out to get her. And she still blames herself for her boyfriend’s death two years prior. Worse yet, what she thought were mere dreams start entering her waking life. Eerie shadows hunt her. Strange new abilities begin developing. Her dream guy becomes reality. And Ana is becoming something other.

Truth be told, Ana feels like she's becoming something beyond human, or maybe she's just going crazy. Where can she turn for answers? Her mother and her best friend are keeping a dark secret about who Ana really is―a secret that could restore the balance between worlds or hurtle them deeper into darkness.

Ana is not only discovering the world is far stranger than she ever expected, but that its survival is dependent on her. But for there to even be a glimmer of a chance at salvation, she must make it alive to the home she's never known.

If you devoured the Mortal Instruments series or Twilight, you’ll love this award-winning, action-packed, romance-touched, coming-of-age adventure told from the point-of-view of a confused and unreliable high-school senior.

Buy Becoming: The Balance Bringer and plunge into the secrets of the triune today!

My Thoughts:

I got this book as part of the Marked by Fate box set with augmented reality. This book is really slow. I really had to push myself to finish it. There wasn't anything really wrong with it, it just didn't interest me. I couldn't connect with the characters. However, I did enjoy the augmented reality items thrown in. The map of her town (with all the places talked about in the story labeled) and the Triune chart were really quite interesting. They really give the reader some insight into the town and the characters.
