Review: Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down

Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down by Lisa Olsen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an interesting twist on a vampire novel. Anja awakes in the morgue and is told that they thought she was dead. It doesn't take her long to find out what is going on but she has no idea what to do next. They really need a handbook for new vampires as she clearly has no idea how to be a vampire. This isn't your typical vampire story but it is well written and the author pulls you into the story completely. I am looking forward to book 2.

Review: Cutting Up the Competition

Cutting Up the Competition Cutting Up the Competition by Carissa Ann Lynch
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is fast paced and will grab your attention immediately. It picks up the following school year from book 1. They thought the events of last year were over but they were wrong. The cheerleaders are scared as they try to figure out who is targeting them for a 2nd year in a row. The twists and turns keep you guessing all the way to the end. Will there be a book 3? The author certainly left room for another one. If she does write a book 3, I will be waiting in line to get a copy. This series is definitely worth a read.

Review: Cheerleading Can Be Murder

Cheerleading Can Be Murder Cheerleading Can Be Murder by Carissa Ann Lynch
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, who knew that cheer-leading could be such a competitive sport? This book definitely kept me guessing all the way to the end. I don't think it is quite over as the author set it up for a sequel. I am going to be looking for more by this author.

Review: Out of Sight, Out of Time

Out of Sight, Out of Time Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, poor Cammie is in more danger than she has been in any book so far. Except now, Cammie is in danger with no idea why since she has lost several months worth of memories. The book moves at a fast pace and danger lurks at every turn. Who is a girl spy supposed to trust? Cammie finds out a lot of truths in this book but there is more to be done. I am really enjoying this series. I can't wait to see what these young spies get into next.

I love this series. There is always action happening. This poor girl is still in danger and Jax is still working hard to keep her safe. I love the chemistry between Alana & Jax is perfect. I am definitely curious to find out what her connection is to the Electi. Looking forward to book 3.

Review: Storm Front

Storm Front Storm Front by D.L. Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had no trouble getting involved in this book. It is definitely an attention grabber. It is full of action and danger. My only issue is the ending. It was a bit confusing. I really hope the author intends to write a sequel that will tie up all the loose ends and end all the confusion.

Review: The Dream Keeper

The Dream Keeper The Dream Keeper by Mikey Brooks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Native Americans believe that dream-catchers will protect a sleeping individual from negative dreams. The belief is that the nightmares will get caught in its web and the good dreams will slip through the hole in the center. This book is all about dreams. There are nightmares and there are good dreams. The dream keepers escort people from the Dreams gateway to either Favors or Mares to have their dreams before being escorted back to Awake (our world). I was quickly drawn into this book. The descriptions of this Dreams and the creatures (both mares & favors) will delight you. This was an epic quest to save both worlds and I can't wait to read book 2.

Review: Even Witches Get the Blues

Even Witches Get the Blues Even Witches Get the Blues by J.D. Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book just makes you ask questions. There is something strange going on in this town and nobody wants to talk about it. You have demons, hunters, witches, shapeshifters, etc. Of course, the book ends with a bombshell piece of info that just leaves you with your mouth hanging open. Now I am anxious to find book 2 because I just have to know what happens next.

Review: Party Girl

Party Girl Party Girl by Rachel Hollis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It was interesting to read a book about the profession that I am trained in (but currently not working in although I plan to get back to it soon). I really enjoyed this book and the event industry is very hard to break into just as this book conveyed. The little details can make or break you. I also loved how Landon went from scared to take a risk to taking several. I absolutely love when a heroine becomes stronger because of what they endured. I definitely want to read more by this author.

Review: 21 Dares

21 Dares 21 Dares by J.C. Gatlin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book caught my attention and wouldn't let go. The pace was steady and I love the characters (quirks and all). The 21 Dares games would be fun to play (minus the serial killer, of course). I will definitely be looking for more by this author!

Review: Deadly Magic

Deadly Magic Deadly Magic by Elisabeth Crabtree
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this little mystery. The pace of the story was just right. The mystery wasn't too easy for the reader to solve. In fact, I was completely wrong about the killer. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Review: Broken Dreams

Broken Dreams Broken Dreams by Rissa Blakeley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**Please note that I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.**

This book is definitely an attention grabber. At first, I had no idea what was happening. I was thinking some military group on a power high to the extreme. Then the mission began and I really started to get into the book and the gripping story-line. I loved the romance between Henry and Elaina until all hell broke loose on their wedding day. I didn't like how manipulative & always drunk Henry became afterward and all of his excuses were just that-excuses. Finally, the day they have been dreading and preparing for arrives and the books ends on that cliffhanger. This is now going to drive me nuts until I get my hands on a copy of book 2. This book is a definite must read for zombie/paranormal lovers out there.

Review: The Fae Ring

The Fae Ring The Fae Ring by C.A. Szarek
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how she could see the mating bond as well as him. I would love to see Xander be able to return home someday. Seeing as I started with book 2, I don't know what happened to cause him to be branded a traitor. I plan on reading book 1 in the near future.

Review: The Legacy of the Key

The Legacy of the Key The Legacy of the Key by S.L. Morgan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. The idea of different dimensions with our Earth in the middle is an interesting concept. Pemdai sounds like an absolutely beautiful place to live. Somehow, I don't think that Levi and Reece's story is quite over yet. I can't wait to learn more about them, the other dimensions and the ancient guardians that protect all of them.

Review: A Stolen Life

A Stolen Life A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book made me cry. I already knew what everyone saw on the news over the years. I knew it would be a tough book for me to read but I picked up a copy last year. It took me a year to bring myself to read it. It is horrible what this beautiful, strong girl has gone through. I am glad that Jaycee has found some peace for herself. To Jaycee: Never doubt that you are a strong woman because you never would have it made it through this if you weren't. I wish you all the luck in the world for your future.

Review: You Are Dead

You Are Dead You Are Dead by Peter James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you like books with police solving mysteries and catching criminals then this book is perfect for you. You have a lot of victims, a serial killer and some really determined detectives. The serial killer in this book has quite a cunning mind. I would love to know how the author came up with the idea for this story. It captivated me from beginning to end.

Review: The Reason

The Reason The Reason by Marley Gibson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this series. I am a bit disappointed that Jason and Taylor moved. Not sure how book 4 will be without these major characters. I was happy to see that Kendall finally figured out who Emily was and how they are connected. I am kind of hoping that the next book focuses on Kendall's plans for Spring Break. Sounds like it would make a great setting for an investigation.

School of Deaths School of Deaths by Christopher Mannino
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**Please note that I received this in exchange for an honest review**

I really enjoyed this book. I have read reaper books where the reapers reside in the real world and reaping is their job. This book is nothing like that. They live in a world between and basically kidnap kids to become reapers. I loved the mystery surrounding the last female Death (or reaper). There seems to be a lot of secrets going on in this world and I can't wait to explore more of them.

I really enjoyed this book. I love how quirky Emerson is. He is very eclectic but he was still my favorite character. His mind just doesn't work like most people's. I can't wait to see what mystery the two of them solve next time.

Review: Beauty and the Brain

Beauty and the Brain Beauty and the Brain by Alice Duncan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So when I started this book, I had a really hard time getting into it (which is why it took so long to read). However, I have had many books start off slow and end up being favorites. This book started off slow but by the end, I was loving it. Colin was a bit stuffy at the beginning. Pretty much any time he talked, I wanted to reach thru the pages and slap the man. That did change later in the book and I decided to like him after all. This is a lovely romance with a bit of a slow start but it is definitely worth the wait.

Review: Code Orange

Code Orange Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was nothing like I expected. Honestly, I didn't even read the book blurb because I have read books by this author before and enjoyed them. For a book with so much about smallpox, I really enjoyed it. I never thought this topic would hold my interest but the author really did a wonderful job with this book. I read the book straight thru without putting it down. Using a term paper assigned at school, the author really brings the smallpox epidemic to life for the reader. Mitty becomes obsessed with his paper and the possibility of contracting smallpox. All because he decided to do his homework for a change. I love how Mitty blames doing his homework for his predicament but it is the knowledge he obtained from said homework that ultimately saves him in the end. This is definitely worth the read.

Review: Friday Night Bites

Friday Night Bites Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It has been a while since I read book 1 but as I eased into this book, I remembered book 1 vividly. There is just something about this book and this series that you don't forget. I felt bad for poor Merit as she isn't really told much but expected to know everything anyways. Plus she has been through so much that most people would just throw the towel in at some point. I love the little bit of shifter drama thrown in with the vampire drama. I am definitely looking forward to book 3.

Wow! I love dystopian books and this one did not disappoint. This is the first book I have read by this author and I doubt it will be the last. The world the author created is like no other and I was enthralled. I will be reading book 2 in the very near future.

Review: Lost in Thought

Lost in Thought Lost in Thought by Cara Bertrand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was definitely interesting. I loved how so many kids with special abilities ended up at the same school. Most books would have had the school only allow kids with abilities so this was an interesting twist on this type of book. There were a couple questions unanswered so I am guessing there is a plan for a sequel..... I would be interested in learning more about the Sententia and their abilities.

The Witch Who Couldn't Spell: Mpenzi Munro's First Cozy Mystery The Witch Who Couldn't Spell: Mpenzi Munro's First Cozy Mystery by Katie Penryn

This was an enjoyable little mystery. I was surprised at who the murderer was. The character wasn't even someone I considered a suspect. I liked the little bit of magic sprinkled in. My favorite character had to be Felix. I think Mpenzi and Felix are good together. I will put this series on my TBR list.
