Killing Me Softly by Bianca Sloane

Killing Me SoftlyKilling Me Softly by Bianca Sloane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked this book up because of the title (it fit a Goodreads challenge) and I really didn't know what it was about. I was pleasantly surprised. This book grabbed my attention and didn't let go. From the conversation at the beginning with the doctor all the way to the big reveal, I knew something odd was happening. The book wasn't too obvious but there were subtle clues. However, you didn't get the full extent of what really happened until much later in the book. The author did a wonderful job in building up the mystery without letting too much be revealed until the end. I will be looking for more by this author.

The Tower Must Fall by S.E. Bennett

The Tower Must FallThe Tower Must Fall by S.E. Bennett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**Please note that I received a copy of this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review**

This book was nothing like I expected. The concept of this book is that "happily ever after" is not all it is cracked up to be and those fairy tales did not happen exactly as we were all told. The "Golden Age" is over and people are paying the price for the choices made then. Cryptids (magical beings) are pitted against mortals because the mortals are taught to fear them. A mixed group is bent on righting these wrongs.

I really enjoyed the little "truth" bits of the fairy tales that were weaved into this book. This book has a bit of everything in it. There are magical beings, romance, war, racism (Cryptids vs. mortals) and the never-ending lust for power. I will be looking for more by this author.

This book starts with Macy, an archaeologist, whose ex-husband drops her daughter off unexpectedly before her expedition. She rearranges her plans and they head off together. They arrive in Tajeskastne and receive an unexpected welcome from a police inspector. She was provided a guide and supplies (she had planned to find all that but it was given to her first) much to her surprise. Despite her suspicions, they head out on the expedition. Danger awaits them at every turn.

I really enjoyed this book. It was nothing like I expected. Justinian was a total surprise. Who he is and where he takes Macy and her daughter was totally unexpected. I couldn't put this book down until it was finished. I will definitely be looking for more from this author.

I had a really hard time with this book. I couldn't get interested in it. I kept putting it down and coming back to it, in the hopes that the book with pick up. I did finally manage to finish the book (after a couple weeks) but I never really was able to get into it. I felt no connection with the characters and the world really didn't appeal to me. This book was definitely not for me.

Enchantment (Channie, #1)Enchantment by Charlotte Abel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a re-read for me although I didn't realize it at first. I read it several years ago so I enjoyed the refresher. This book gives quite an interesting spin on magic and what kind of magic a mage receives. The chastity curse is unique and an amusing twist the author threw in. Josh and Channie fight through it together though. I will definitely be reading more of this series.

This book was ok. The book moved at a slow pace and I felt my interest waning several times. I would step away and then try to read some more later. I did like that the murderer was not blatantly obvious until closer to the end when all the clues started to line up. This book just wasn't for me.

Exiles in Time (After Cilmeri, # 5) by Sarah Woodbury

Exiles in Time (After Cilmeri, # 5)Exiles in Time by Sarah Woodbury
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a bit different than the other ones in the series. It wasn't focused directly on Meg's family. Although, David was a huge part of the story, this book was focused on two individuals that Meg accidentally brought back in time with her in previous books. I enjoyed this little side trip to learn more about some of the other characters in the series. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

I really enjoyed this book. It has tons of ghosts hanging out all over the place. I like Frankie (a 1930s gangster and a ghost) and really enjoyed his antics. I will definitely be reading more of this series.

*Please note that I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* This book caught my attention and didn't let go. I absolutely loved this book! I was appropriately disgusted with the headmistress for even thinking Ivy should become her sister. This book was full of suspense and mystery. I will definitely be looking for more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. I was immediately drawn into this story as the robbery itself happened almost right away. However, things are not as they seem. Lives are in danger as they get closer to finding the mastermind behind the robberies. This is a very fast paced, thrilling read and I will be looking forward to more by this author. A must read for mystery and thriller lovers out there.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is really intriguing. The plot centers around the abduction of 5 children ages 8 & younger. I love how the author made the resolution about faith and God. In order to survive the ordeal, they needed God. I really wish Aiden would tell Grace how he feels about her. I am saddened that they didn't get to be together in the end. There is a sequel so I am curious to see if the beast (demon) comes back.

Ryelee's Cowboy (Dawson Ranch, #2) by Kathleen Ball

Ryelee's Cowboy (Dawson Ranch, #2)Ryelee's Cowboy by Kathleen Ball
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a quick and easy romance. I love Ryelee and how strong she really is (even though she doesn't think so). I was a bit disappointed with Clint's attitude. He wanted her to trust him but he didn't trust her. Rheenie seems so sweet and sensitive that you have to love her. I would love to see a sequel with Rheenie all grown up and looking for love.

I liked this book. It is a nice easy read. I would have liked to see more development of the characters though. Insta-love isn't all that believable but aside from that and the abrupt ending it really isn't a bad book. This book is intriguing enough that I am left hoping there is a sequel in the works.

I really enjoyed this book. I love how they made the Twilight Lord pay for his actions. He won't be trying anything any time soon. Bertrice Small has always been able to draw me in and this book is no exception. This world she created has completely grabbed my attention and I can't wait to read more of this series.
