Review: The Reason

The Reason The Reason by Marley Gibson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this series. I am a bit disappointed that Jason and Taylor moved. Not sure how book 4 will be without these major characters. I was happy to see that Kendall finally figured out who Emily was and how they are connected. I am kind of hoping that the next book focuses on Kendall's plans for Spring Break. Sounds like it would make a great setting for an investigation.

School of Deaths School of Deaths by Christopher Mannino
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**Please note that I received this in exchange for an honest review**

I really enjoyed this book. I have read reaper books where the reapers reside in the real world and reaping is their job. This book is nothing like that. They live in a world between and basically kidnap kids to become reapers. I loved the mystery surrounding the last female Death (or reaper). There seems to be a lot of secrets going on in this world and I can't wait to explore more of them.

I really enjoyed this book. I love how quirky Emerson is. He is very eclectic but he was still my favorite character. His mind just doesn't work like most people's. I can't wait to see what mystery the two of them solve next time.

Review: Beauty and the Brain

Beauty and the Brain Beauty and the Brain by Alice Duncan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So when I started this book, I had a really hard time getting into it (which is why it took so long to read). However, I have had many books start off slow and end up being favorites. This book started off slow but by the end, I was loving it. Colin was a bit stuffy at the beginning. Pretty much any time he talked, I wanted to reach thru the pages and slap the man. That did change later in the book and I decided to like him after all. This is a lovely romance with a bit of a slow start but it is definitely worth the wait.

Review: Code Orange

Code Orange Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was nothing like I expected. Honestly, I didn't even read the book blurb because I have read books by this author before and enjoyed them. For a book with so much about smallpox, I really enjoyed it. I never thought this topic would hold my interest but the author really did a wonderful job with this book. I read the book straight thru without putting it down. Using a term paper assigned at school, the author really brings the smallpox epidemic to life for the reader. Mitty becomes obsessed with his paper and the possibility of contracting smallpox. All because he decided to do his homework for a change. I love how Mitty blames doing his homework for his predicament but it is the knowledge he obtained from said homework that ultimately saves him in the end. This is definitely worth the read.

Review: Friday Night Bites

Friday Night Bites Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It has been a while since I read book 1 but as I eased into this book, I remembered book 1 vividly. There is just something about this book and this series that you don't forget. I felt bad for poor Merit as she isn't really told much but expected to know everything anyways. Plus she has been through so much that most people would just throw the towel in at some point. I love the little bit of shifter drama thrown in with the vampire drama. I am definitely looking forward to book 3.

Wow! I love dystopian books and this one did not disappoint. This is the first book I have read by this author and I doubt it will be the last. The world the author created is like no other and I was enthralled. I will be reading book 2 in the very near future.

Review: Lost in Thought

Lost in Thought Lost in Thought by Cara Bertrand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was definitely interesting. I loved how so many kids with special abilities ended up at the same school. Most books would have had the school only allow kids with abilities so this was an interesting twist on this type of book. There were a couple questions unanswered so I am guessing there is a plan for a sequel..... I would be interested in learning more about the Sententia and their abilities.

The Witch Who Couldn't Spell: Mpenzi Munro's First Cozy Mystery The Witch Who Couldn't Spell: Mpenzi Munro's First Cozy Mystery by Katie Penryn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an enjoyable little mystery. I was surprised at who the murderer was. The character wasn't even someone I considered a suspect. I liked the little bit of magic sprinkled in. My favorite character had to be Felix. I think Mpenzi and Felix are good together. I will put this series on my TBR list.

Review: Fate Succumbs

Fate Succumbs Fate Succumbs by Tammy Blackwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this series. It grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. I really like that Scout and Liam are together in the end. I am still kind of confused about how it is possible for a dead shifter to DreamWalk. Other than that, I absolutely loved the story line and can't wait to read more about the shifter world this author has created.

Review: Time Mends

Time Mends Time Mends by Tammy Blackwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, I am even more confused than I was at the end of the first book if that is even possible. Book 1 left me hoping that Alex was still alive. Book 2 has me wondering why everyone is so determined to kill her. Poor Scout is confused and has no idea what is going on around her. Liam's whole part in her rescue has me wondering who and what he really is. Is Alex really dead and will all her friends and brother make it out alive? I have soooo many questions. Yes, the author has made it almost impossible for me to not want to read book 3 immediately. I guess I will be heading to Amazon to find a copy...

Bloodstone Bloodstone by S.E. Akers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book picks up where the last one left off. Danger lurks at every turn for poor Shiloh. Everyone wants her diamond powers and she has no idea who she can trust (other than Katie). Poor Katie just wants her body back and being stuck in a diamond is not much fun. Plus everyone she knows thinks she is dead. This book is full of drama and a touch of romance. I can't wait to see what danger and excitement awaits in book 3.

Review: You Make Me

You Make Me You Make Me by Erin McCarthy
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book was ok. Caitlyn was a big dramatic. She completely changed her personality when she went to college. She didn't want to be the person she was growing up. She is in a relationship with one guy when one from her past shows up. She is all over the place, almost schizophrenic in her actions. She is all over the place in her emotions and actions. It seems to be one extreme or the other with this character. I really found it hard to relate this character at all.

Review: Bone Maker

Bone Maker Bone Maker by D.F. Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked this book up for the Wobble chain challenge. I chose it for the title and didn't have a clue what it was about. The book drew me in immediately and didn't let me go. At 50%, I had an idea who all was involved in the murder and was waiting for it all to unravel. The mystery was kind of predictable but the author wrote it so well that I couldn't put it down. The suspense of the book had me in its thrall. I would definitely read more of this series or anything else by this author.

Review: Ashes and Bones

Ashes and Bones Ashes and Bones by Dana Cameron
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. I did not read any of the series before this book but I was able to piece together some of what had previously happened. I knew who was behind all the problems pretty early on since Emma was pretty much screaming his name at anyone who would listen (and they all told her she was wrong). I couldn't figure out how he was doing all of it at first but it was all revealed piece by piece. I kind of wish that the author hadn't revealed who was behind everything so quickly but the book was written well enough to make me not want to put it down until it was over.

I may pick up book 2 sometime in the future but there are a lot of other books that I am interested in above this one.

I would love to read anything by any of these authors.

Review: Cinderella

Cinderella Cinderella by May Sage
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this modern take on Cinderella. I love how the fairies were incorporated into the story and that the prince was so normal. I like that he knew her when they were younger instead of a chance meeting at a ball. Oh and the idea of a weekend long festival to find a wife among all his people was interesting. I laughed at the criteria he laid out for contestants and again when that same criteria eliminated the people that followed it. This book is definitely geared towards adults and I can't wait to read book 2.

Review: Quivers and Quills

Quivers and Quills Quivers and Quills by Michelle Lashier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book!! Wouldn't it be great to be able to time travel and meet famous people in history? Joanna & Jill meet the illustrious Robin Hood (whom historians around the world still haven't proven if he really existed or was just a made up ballad) and become part of the legend itself. Joanna solves the mystery of 2 murders while Jill teaches Robin what he can do to really make a difference in the world (and become the legend he was meant to be). Neither of the twins come back the same as they were when they went back in time.

I loved how they met the future versions (21st century) of the men they cared about from the 12th century after arriving back home. I am definitely putting the rest of this series on my TBR list.

Review: The Goddess Rules

The Goddess Rules The Goddess Rules by Clare Naylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an enjoyable romance. The MC is dating a real loser. One of those guys that play with you but don't really respect you. Waiting in the wings is a wonderful guy who has been in love with her for years. Of course, the loser notices and tries to keep her and she is foolish enough to fall for it (as many of us tend to do from time to time). There is a lot of personal growth and friendship as well in this book. I would definitely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was an interesting take on a circus. I thought Finley was a bit moody but overall a good guy that acted like he was a tough guy. I was a bit disappointed at the end when she couldn't forgive him for not telling her what was going on. He did try to save Dave and it wasn't his fault that he was killed.

Overall, this was a good book and I am looking forward to reading more at a later date.

One Black Rose (One Black Rose, #1)One Black Rose by Maddy Edwards
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book but it is really a 3.5 not a 4. These fairies are fighting because Autumn and Holt want to be together but they think she should be with Samuel. Samuel hasn't even shown the slightest bit of interest in her. In fact, he treats her like he hates her. His family treats her like they own her and nobody seems to care about what she wants.

Despite my irritation with the way Autumn is treated, this book is well written. It also sucked me in immediately. I will most likely read book 2 but it will probably make me want to throw something at these fictional characters LOL.

This book was totally different than most paranormal books that I have read. Jenny is afraid to touch people because her touch can literally kill. Then we meet Seth and Ashleigh. The world will not be the same with these three running around. Is it really possible that there is a power worse than the power to kill with a single touch?

I really enjoyed this book. It pulled me in and kept me intrigued the whole way thru. I am very interested to see what comes next for Seth & Jenny. Is there even a town left after all this?

I read this as part of a reading marathon led by the author. This book was so good I had a really hard time keeping to the 5 chapters per night schedule. I would "accidentally" read too many chapters and get ahead of the rest of the group. The whole concept of the book is a new one for me. I think this is the only book I have read with Dream Travelers and I was immediately pulled into the world created by the author. I am looking forward to starting book 2 on Sunday (I want to start now but the group isn't starting until then so I will behave and wait- LOL) .

Seriously, for anyone who likes fantasy books, you will not want to miss out on this book.
